Welcome all fellow Hungarians and Visitors,
„Oh proud countryman, guard the fire
And fear not in the face of strife:
Light and heat enough is contained within this one spark
To burn for ever.”
These stirring words by the poet Vörösmarty should inspire the souls and thoughts of each and everyone of us. As we begin the new four-year civic cycle, my colleagues and I shall certainly be bearing them in mind in all that we do.
And we know there is much to do. Cegléd will only gain strength if its inhabitants exploit its historic attributes to the maximum. We must work together to develop a better future. We share a wonderful homeland and a wonderful town; our future too is of common interest to us all. If we work together with common aims, we shall be able to take pride in the fruits of our united efforts. Cegléd has all the attributes needed for this. It has a history stretching back over 640 years and can lay claim to many unique historical treasures, including much evidence of the spiritual heritage of Árpád, György Dózsa and Lajos Kossuth. It is also the site of many other items of religious and secular significance.
Let's create together a Cegléd which will stand as a symbol of peace, love, good and trust.
This is the message I should like to extend to you all.
„Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.”
